run time: 55 minutes

WRECK is a physical and sonic representation of what it feels like to be concussed, continuously. It is rage, surrender, hardening and resurfacing. It is the physical embodiment of the impact of the aftermath, the post-concussion symptoms. Performed as a duet between Madison Wada and Sierra Hendrix with live music by Will Hayes. The audience and performers are surrounded by a 300 foot wall of black tarp representing tunnel vision. Screaming guitar chords carry on throughout the performance reflecting the therapeutic aspect Metal music provides for me during recovery.

This was created over a year of solo research in the studio, trying to find ways to move “safely” while recovering from multiple concussions, when all I wanted to do was thrash. Metal, hardcore and doomcore music were my fuel during this time in and out of the studio. Part numbing, part sonic match, to the physical symptoms. This is what the world feels and looks like during a concussed state for me.

Time slows. Head pounding. Here we go again.
